Who Else Wants To Bake Like An
Awarding Winning Baker?

When I first started baking, I ended up with more inedible door-stoppers than I care to admit to.  But every once in a while, when my Baking Angels were sitting on my shoulders, I got such amazing prize-winning results; I realized that it was worth the effort.  For many years, baking was something that required more luck than skill.  As such, I was never much of a baker, preferring to spend my time in the kitchen cooking, rather than baking.  I would talk to others about this, and they told me they had the same problem.

I realized that there had to be an easier way,
because I wanted to bake better. And everyone else did too.

So I analyzed hundreds of cookbooks and recipes over the years and found the elusive trick... start with a proven tasty recipe. That's why I came up with Aunt Annie's Award Winning Recipes, a collection of tried and true recipes.

I've been collecting recipes for ages.  Anytime an award winning recipe was printed in my local paper, I would clip it and save it for the future... for the day I would master baking.

Let me tell you a bit about my experience in the kitchen: I'm a bright, experimental and talented cook, but I keep having trouble succeeding as a baker.  All the cookbooks, all the hours of Food Network, all the cooking lessons at my Nonna's knee... nothing seemed to work when it came to baking.

That is, until I met Annie.

Annie was our neighbour at the family Lake Home and she was a fabulous baker.  In fact, she was an award winning baker.  I would visit with her every weekend, sitting in her kitchen while she made pie after pie.

She made it look so easy.  So much so that one weekend, as we approached Christmas, I asked her for a recipe.

It was to be my first Christmas in my new home.  My entire family would be there.  And I wanted the night to be special.  And I wanted the dessert to extra special.  So I asked Annie for a recipe. She gave me one for an apple pie that had won her 1st place at the fair a few years ago.

My first Christmas in my new home.  My family
sat at a beautiful table, set with simple white stoneware dishes, and a few muted decorations that complemented each wonderful culinary masterpiece, drinking the finest Amarone and enjoying bite after mouthwatering bite.  I spent time making all our favorite entrees and appetizers, the tastes of Christmases Past, you could feel the love with which each dish was prepared.  The food was absolutely delicious, if I may say so myself, and, of course, any time I dine with family, laughter abounds, acccented by the music playing subtlely in the background.

Everyone raved about the meal.

And then there was the pie.  The most eagerly anticipated treat of the evening.  Baked to perfection with a flaky melt-in-your-mouth golden crust and heavenly hints of brown sugar and cinnamon reminiscent of the pies your grandmother used to bake.

The pie was divine!  And the recipe had been so easy to follow.  Annie really had made it easy for me to succeed as a baker.

The next day, my sister called asking for the recipe so she could make it at Easter when she would be hosting.  She also asked me if I could get more of Annie's recipes.

I asked Annie for a few more, and was lucky enough to spend a few weekends in her kitchen, learning the ropes.

Annie's lessons were about more than the art of the perfect pie crust or how to roast a moist and tender chicken. They were about passion, they were about love... genuinely loving the smells and textures and tastes of the foods you were preparing and the people you were preparing them for.

Her spacious kitchen was filled with mementos of her years as a baker and cook.  An amateur photographer, she took pictures of every dish she created and proudly placed them in a scrapbook, noting the date and lucky recipient of the dish.  Walls were covered with memories of parties gone.  And a beautiful cedar keepsake box was stuffed to the brim with over 300 ribbons from State Fairs.

When Annie moved, I continued my search and scoured the internet for award winning recipes.  In a matter of months, I had a renewed passion for cooking and a new inspiration to challenge my baking skills.

Every time I tried a recipe that had ribboned at a State Fair, my dessert would be met with rave reviews.
My family loved all the tasty treats I would bring to the table.  And the best part was, I didn't find baking and cooking such a chore; and most important, I was feeling better about my baking skills.

Every time I would spring a new recipe on my sister, she would ask for the recipe.
My sister was ecstatic, she also struggles with baking.  But now both of us have access to recipes that are proven to get mouthwatering results... and we're getting more compliments as well as helping other bakers do the same.

Now I'm a whiz at baking. And I credit it all to the inspiration that Annie provided on all those weekends around her kitchen table.  Baking suddenly makes sense to me, every step of the way.  Everyone who knows me and witnessed my baking transformation, can't believe the changes.  As one nephew put it, "Yummy, yummy, yummy, I've got cookies in my tummy!"

Now you can have a bit of Annie in your home too.
